Alberto Prado is Vice President of Digital and Open Innovation at Philips. In this capacity, he is responsible for driving breakthrough innovation across consumer products by identifying external opportunities for collaboration via an open innovation framework. Additionally, he leads the Digital Innovation program aimed at enabling an ecosystem of smart connected devices and new service-oriented business models. Previously, Alberto led Nokia's R&D strategy, global product management at Symbian Software and business development for NEC Europe, primarily based in London. He holds a degree in Engineering and Economics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) and MBA from INSEAD (France). Alberto is guest lecturer at the ESCP-Europe (Berlin) and IE (Madrid) on innovation and technology strategy. He is also a frequent speaker at events such as the World Handset Forum, TED and in the media (CNN, Financial Times, International Herald Tribune).

Covidien

Ignatius Rasiah is the Vice President of Breakthrough Platform at Covidien. He manages a global team of more than 30 staff based in North America, Singapore and Shanghai. He leads Covidien's efforts in sourcing and developing new technologies that will have a significant impact in the field of Healthcare. He has a particular focus in technologies for the Operating Room in hospitals. Ignatius received his PhD degree in Physics in 1992 and continued onto his postdoctoral fellowship at the Lash Miller Labs in the University of Toronto in Canada. He was the Chief Technology Officer for Asia at PerkinElmer Optoelectronics from 2004 to 2007 and is an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Ireland, Galway. His most recent effort has been the creation of a Medical Technology hub called METRIC with Irish universities for industry. He has previously held the role of Global Technology Manager at Honeywell Electronic Materials until 2003 and has held key positions in industry associations and consortia.

George Poh is the Chief Operating Officer of Unisteel Technology Ltd. He has been with the company since 1995 and is one of the key management personnel in helping to grow the company from a small medium enterprise to public listed company in year 2000 and subsequently the delisting after the acquisition by KKR in 2008. George is responsible for the global operations of Unisteel, including manufacturing, quality, supply chain and information technology. George is also the head of research and development in Unisteel, responsible for generating new technologies and innovative products in precision fasteners, metals and plastics. George has an MBA Degree from University of Hull and a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from University of Sheffield.

These COIs are set up by SPRING in partnership with selected polytechnics and research institutes. SINGAPORE HEALTH SERVICES PTE LTD

AMPL offers a wide range of Histopathology related services to support researchers and companies across a complete spectrum of drug development and drug safety evaluation studies. Providing expertise from rodent necropsy to antibody validation and nucleic acid extraction from tissues and cells, AMPL @ Biopolis fully GLP compliant.

AMPL@SingHealth

Located at the SGH Campus, AMPL@SingHealth offers a wide range of services to support researchers and industry. Capabilities include cytology preparation and cell array construction, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in-situ hybridization, fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH), double immunoenzymatic staining, laser microdissection, tissue microarray construction, extraction of RNA and DNA, isolated cell preparations from FFPE and histopathological consultation. We process specimen from both humans and animals.

Together, both sister laboratories collaborate on translational studies from drug targeting in animal models through to validation studies in clinical samples. We combine strong project management, with a unique blend of research and industrial expertise, which includes veterinary and clinical research pathology oversight at all stages.

NANYANG POLYTECHNIC
