A Singapore enterprise seeks a rechargeable miniaturised battery for integration into earphones.

Consumers desire for smaller, lighter earphones with more features. Thus a higher density battery is required to enable this innovation. The Singapore enterprise seeks a rechargeable battery technology with higher power density than existing rechargeable batteries. 

The seeker is looking for a miniaturised rechargeable battery technology to integrate into earphones. The rechargeable battery technology should have a higher energy capacity while maintaining safety and reliability than existing commercially-off-the-shelf lithium-polymer / lithium-ion batteries. The battery is required to fit into the small form factor (shape of the battery is negotiable) and shall be scaleable in size and capacity to meet different model design requirements. 

The technology shall be commercially ready for mass production within 12 months.

Technical Specifications

The desirable specification for earphone battery are:

  • Rechargeable battery technology (e.g. Li-ion, Li-Polymer, and others)
  • Energy capacity: at least 22 mAh @ 3.7 V, or approximately 82 mWh and higher
  • Energy density per litre: > 550 Wh/l
  • Small volume (approximately 145 mm3), but negotiable shapes
  • Fast charging option
  • Has to be a commercial prototype ready for mass production within 12 months

What we are not interested in

Batteries with a power density lower than 550 Wh/l.

Technologies not commercially producible within 12 months.
