Dr Ong Mei Horng is currently an Advisor and Consultant for food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers, start-ups, venture capitalists, universities and research agencies. She helps F&B companies to innovate and transform their business via the development of new product and services and adoption of advanced intelligent manufacturing solutions.
She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for Food Science, Technology and Nutrition MSc Programme at the National University of Singapore.
Mei Horng was the Director of the FMCG Cluster at Advanced Remanufacturing Technology Centre (ARTC) where she led the cluster in the development and implementation of A*STAR's R&D strategies and building a new FMCG membership consortium ecosystem to facilitate public-private partnerships.
She was also the Chief Scientific Officer of F&N Ltd, during which she focused on R&D and manufacturing strategies. She has extensive industry experience and deep expertise gained from over 25 years working in food and beverage companies such as Nestlé, Mars and Cadbury, F&N and Vitasoy in Europe, Oceania and Asia.
As a recognition for Mei Horng's contribution to food research and industries, Dr Ong was co-opted as a council member of the Singapore Institute of Food Science and Technology 42th Council in 2018.
Mei Horng graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Management with honours from King’s College, University of London and obtained her PhD in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nottingham in England.
