Yap Chew Loong

Yap Chew Loong is an active angel investor and consultant to several medtech start-ups in Singapore and China.

Chew Loong was the Executive Vice President and General Manager at A*ccelerate (formerly known as ETPL), the commercialisation arm of Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He has more than 30 years of managerial and business experiences in various life cycle phases of medical technology products – investment, product development, design, prototyping, regulatory compliance, manufacturing, operations, distribution, sales and marketing.

Prior to ETPL, Chew Loong spent over 18 years working for Becton Dickenson (BD) in various positions and was last Country General Manager of BD China/Hong Kong. He also worked for ST Kinetics in Singapore in various managerial roles in manufacturing.

Chew Loong received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Malaya, and MSc in Industrial and System Engineering and MBA from the National University of Singapore.
