Appointment of New CEO


IPI, an affiliate of Enterprise Singapore has appointed Wong Lup Wai as Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1 September 2019. Former Executive Director, Professor Lam Khin Yong will remain as a director on the Board of IPI.

In his role, Wong will lead the strategy and growth of IPI in consultation with the Board of Directors and Steering Committee.

Wong Lup Wai brings with him strong international management experience and deep knowledge of strategic planning, operations, and innovation and development. He had held various senior leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer at the Singapore Sports Hub and Group Chief Operating Officer at Hyflux. Before that, he spent 25 years with Philips Electronics Singapore in various roles and was the Managing Director of Philips Singapore from 2009 to 2012. Wong holds a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master in Business Administration from the Nanyang Technological University.

Under his leadership, he has broadened IPI’s outreach through strategic international partnerships with key innovation players such as the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), opening new collaboration opportunities for Singapore enterprises. At the same time, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Lup Wai. With his extensive experience, I am confident that he will bring new insights to further strengthen IPI’s capabilities and lead it into the next chapter of growth,” said Ted Tan, Chairman of IPI.

Wong said, “First of all, I want to thank Professor Lam for the strong foundation he has established for me to work on. I am excited to join IPI as its new CEO and look forward to working closely with our partners in the innovation and enterprise ecosystem and build upon our efforts to catalyse industry-driven innovation.”
