IPI hosted a Spanish R&D-focused delegation which visited Singapore from 23 to 25 May 2017. Their trip was timed to coincide with CommunicAsia 2017. Led by CDTI (Spain's National Innovation Agency) and PLANETIC (the Spanish ICT-based Technology Platform), the delegation consisted of 10 entities whose fields of work include Smart City solutions, IoT, eHealth and Big Data, amongst others.

To promote technology collaboration opportunities with Singapore partners in areas of mutual interests, visits were arranged for the delegation to meet with the Infocomm Media Development Authority and its accredited Singapore-based technology companies at their exhibition booths in CommunicAsia 2017; as well as the Singapore IT Federation and its participating companies. PIXEL Labs, an incubation platform for ground-breaking products and innovative solutions, also hosted the delegation at the National Design Centre.

The visits had marked a good head start in promoting project opportunities between the ICT companies of both countries, as conversations to explore technology collaborations have commenced from the series of connections established.
