BIOGRAPHY

Dr Terence Goh has more than two decades of experience in large scale on-grid solar farms, microgrids and energy storage. He was instrumental in securing a project related to grid-scale Energy Storage System for a Singapore-based solar energy solutions provider. He has led and delivered several Lender's Engineering (bankability) studies on large scale solar projects in Asia Pacific.

Dr Goh was previously DNV GL's Regional Head, Energy Storage for Asia Pacific. He specialises in energy management systems (EMS) design. In a recent project, Dr Goh represents Nippon Koei to develop a marinised energy storage systems solutions and IIoT-based smart grid solutions for offshore environment. He has also embarked on several smart city projects in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Previously, he was involved in Tianjin Eco-City project in China, where he had helped to set up the Keppel Technology Centre. He had also contributed in setting up the ST-NTU Intelligent System Centre and ST Engineering's Energy & Power Centre. Dr Goh is a thought leader in renewables and energy storage systems and had been invited as a keynote speaker in several international conferences.

Dr Goh obtained his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College London and MSc in Computer Science from the Manchester University. He also received the Certification in IT Project Management (CIPTM) from Singapore Computer Society. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in NUS and an Adjunct Associate Faculty at SIT.

System Design of Energy Management Systems (EMS)

Designed and developed the hardware and software of an EMS for power generation from microgrid and solar systems while ensuring compliance to relevant standards, e.g. UL 9540 at system level. Led a team to design and develop an EMS and control system that toggles between lithium-ion and fuel cell systems for terrain-based robots and a high-altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle.

As DNV GL's Regional Head, Energy Storage for Asia Pacific, Dr Goh was involved in several projects related to rural electrification, microgrid, electric vehicles and power sub-station automation across Asia-Pacific. He had completed inspections in ensuring conformance with GBT, IEC and UL, e.g. IEC 62619 on several lithium-ion battery manufacturing plants in China and Thailand. He was involved in a lithium-ion battery factory walk through audit in China on behalf of a potential investor. The audit starts with a check list and ends with a report that entails workflow processes, interviews, cell-to-rack level test results and validations, automation as well as audit checks on the standards certifications.
