BIOGRAPHY
Dr Masato Miyata is currently Senior Researcher in Temasek Polytechnic, School of Applied Science. He has more than 20 years of hands-on experience in fish genomics and pathology, epigenetics, gene expression regulatory mechanisms, fish disease, immunology and vaccine development, ranging from basic research in academia to industrial R&D.
He developed experiment platforms in Temasek Polytechnic to evaluate the efficacy of fish health products as such vaccines or agents with anti-pathogenic property. He also developed a new secondary antibody (monoclonal antibody) against fish IgM, a key component to check immunity in fish to improve the efficacy of diagnosis. Dr Miyata provides consultancy and expert services in the areas of fish health management as well as safety and efficacy testing of health products with fish or cultured cell platforms.
Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, Dr Miyata was Project Leader at MSD Animal Health Innovation, where he worked on several fish vaccine projects, from development studies to regulatory dossier submission, vaccine production and product launch.
