TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
The NEF is a monitoring and notification system of on-bed movements to assess the conditions of patients, especially those with stroke-induced mobility impairments. Equipped with sensors and digital devices, the NEF helps reduce risks of failing off from a bed, and having pressure sores. In the case of the NEF, the corresponding researchers started by resolving care-taking issues for patients. The first version of the NEF has been patented. At this point, the patent application of the second-version of the NEF has been filed.
TECHNOLOGY FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS
Equipped with sensors and digital devices, the NEF has been continuously developed. There are three versions available for the NEF: 2019 Beta, 2020 Alpha, and 2020 Beta; all of which have passed required standards.

POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS
The NEF is based on an IoT sensor mat to monitor activities of patients on the bed, via a web application dashboard. Bedsores are one of the critical issues from patients who are bedridden. The NEF system helps monitor the pressured points of patients, and can notify caregivers of the patients' condition, so that intervention can be given to prevent bedsores. The system can also help to reduce the risk of the patient falling off the bed by giving early warning notifications to caregivers.
