A New Zealand company has developed a device that provides real-time continuous water turbidity and sediment monitoring, which offers a highly reliable, cost-effective and real-time approach to measuring suspended solids. This solar-powered, low maintenance solution floats and transmits real-time data to a web interface and is suitable for use in a variety of outdoor applications such as environmental monitoring or industrial processes. The company is seeking partnerships for co-development or for commercial agreements with technical assistance.

TECHNOLOGY FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS

The solar-powered turbidity measurement solution developed by this company has a small footprint, and is also capable of temperature and rainfall measurement. As a portable solution, it floats on water bodies and transmits in real-time the data that is collected. As a result, water samples can be collected either when triggered remotely or when specific conditions are met – such as specified rainfall or turbidity concentrations.

The turbidity measurement spans a wide range of 5–9999 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU) with an accuracy rate of ±2% and a wavelength of 880 nm, supporting temperatures in the range of 0–50 °C.
