Collaborative Learning App for Real-Time Capture and Monitoring of Learners’ Contributions

The technology provides the following value proposition:

• To monitor individual learners’ participation and contributions real-time in class
• To access contributions real-time via assessment rubrics

The technology exists in two versions. The Client version for Instructors is an executable file allowing for the monitoring and assessment of real-time class participation. The Users version for learners comes in an app for their group/peer review, critical reflection and group learning activities.

This Apps offers vital in-class real-time features, namely:

1. Monitoring and assessing real-time Class Participation (i.e. does not only assess quality of participation but frequency as well, with auto counters)
2. Group Review
3. Peer Review
4. Critical Reflection
5. Grouping

The functionalities offered could assist instructors to engage students and perform collaborative learning in a more scaffolded manner. It could be utilised for a maximum number of 50 students per class size.

This learning intervention is potentially targeted at:

• Academic learning environments (e.g., Universities, Tertiary Higher Educational Institutions, Junior Colleges and Secondary Schools)
• Continuing education institutes or agencies
• Corporate organisations’ learning and development (L&D)

The technology owner is looking for partners to further develop the technology or license for their particular field of use.

For the instructors, the technology offers real-time monitoring of learners’ contribution and assessment. This allows for objective monitoring and access of learners’ individual participation and contribution in class.
