TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

The proposed energy management solution is capable of measuring, monitoring and managing devices for better energy efficiency performance, extending building equipment lifespan using predictive-based fault checks, and automating maintenance work orders for cost savings.

The software solution seats on an IoT platform and server hosted by the technology owner. It integrates with the existing building management system (BMS) via common communication protocol. It collects and digitalises information such as energy consumption, occupant comfort level (i.e. room temperature, humidity, weather), as well as equipment operation status. The collected data is then analysed by a proprietary data analytics engine which entails a set of expert rules, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and train-and-respond (TR) algorithms.

The final output is then displayed on a dashboard, which provides information including building performance evaluation (energy saving, equipment health, thermal comfort), as well as actionable maintenance suggestions in detail. This information help building owners, facilities management and property developers derive cost savings, increase efficiency and reduce manpower needs.

The solution has been piloted in the technology owner’s own building and another commercial building in China, achieving >15% reduction in overall power consumption (year on year). The technology owner is seeking industry partners to collaborate through various modes including technology licensing, R&D collaboration, customisation for pilot tests of the solution in commercial/industrial buildings.
