TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Transportation Analytics & Report Solution (TARS) is a solution for subway and railway vehicles so that it detects and predicts any abnormality of wheels or tracks by collecting information such as vibration and high frequency noise from sensors on trains in real-time, when train is moving. In addition, various environmental sensors are used to analyze changes in the environment, analyse congestion in trains, and secure safety by detecting volatile substances. Consequently, TARS provides a solution for the convenience and safety of passengers, and supports efficient train operations, aligned with cost reduction.

TECHNOLOGY FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS

The device consists of: external sensor pack: temperature, humidity, fine dust, ultra fine dust, carbon dioxide (CO2), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) internal sensors: noise, 9-axis inertia measurement unit LTE-M smart scanner The device collects data of each carriage, analyze the condition of railway, wheel, indoor environment, and congestion of passengers by time and sector. It analyses floating population and detects abnormality that might cause serious problem. It provides analysis data required by the client in various devices. The collected data are available to be further processed and to provide a variety of services. Collected information is stored with encryption and decryption. Self-developed analytic solutions make it possible to refine the data. The information collected in the scanner is transmitted to the server using LTE-M for stable communication.

POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS

TARS was utilized on all trains of Seoul Metro Line 5, which is a route in the center of Seoul made to improve accessibility to various zones of the city. It has operated with 76 trains and 608 carriages, and TARS has covered all carriages. As this example shows, TARS can be used anywhere where there is are subway or railroad vehicles.

Benefits

The technology makes it possible to collect and analyse the physical state of the train and passenger congestion data. It can also identify anomalies during train operations.
