TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Dedicated plug-and-play decentralized application (DApp) built on blockchain technology for traceability and transparency of Food supply chains. The DApp provides supply chain actors with an innovative solution to address problems such as product counterfeiting, frauds and supply chain fragmentation: For traceability of products and visibility of supply chain from farm to fork To increase transparency and quality control on products and procedures To enable businesses go digital with an innovative, secure and interoperable technology To improve business efficiency through Smart Contract To increase brand reputation, reliability and service quality by establishing a direct channel to final consumers The Foodchain DApp is modular, that means that users can configure the functions to suit business requirements. It is easy to use and cost-effective.

TECHNOLOGY FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS

Plug-and-play decentralized application (DApp) for traceability of supply chains “as a service” (SaaS), with a dedicated user interface that enables supply chain actors to manage information (i.e. origin, date processed, quality checks, etc.) through a blockchain powered system, upload files and share data B2B and B2C, preserving privacy and supporting transparency of data. The DApp records the information collected to empower producers, distributors and consumers with real-time visibility of supply chain using blockchain to trace products from origin to point of sale. The blockchain generates a digital record of verified transactions that cannot be altered or tempered with to ensure integrity of data. Blockchain-authenticated contents are accessible simply by scanning the QR code labels generated by the platform with any QR code reader (i.e. smartphone).

POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS

Platform for traceability of Food supply chains Monitoring system for agricultural processes and products Function for blockchain-validated CO2 production  The Blockchain in Agriculture market (and Food Supply Chain) is valued at USD 41.2 million in 2017 and projected to reach USD 429.7 million by 2023 The DApp can be used as a model for any type of supply chain  Enables data-driven new business models

Benefits

Digitalization of business using the latest technologies (blockchain, smart contract)  Creation of new business models Transparency and real-time visibility of supply chain Establishes accountability and authenticity of data Increases brand reputation and customer loyalty Disintermediation and de-bureaucratization of processes via Smart Contract Based on the lowest running cost, low energy consumption blockchain infrastructure Provides authentic information to prove compliance and sustainable practices Immediate access to critical information (i.e. non-compliances in case of product recall) Carbon footprint validation on blockchain
