TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

The technology relates to a flow-through water treatment system with a regenerable adsorbent material developed and manufactured by a Hungarian R&D company. The regenerable adsorbent material is a rare earth-based polymer bonded resin that can be configured to adsorb arsenic (As), boron (B), iodine (I) and fluorine (F), without affecting other water quality parameters.

The water treatment system adopted a modular design to handle different water qualities, from household level to community level. It comprises of 5 key modules: (a) mechanical filtration (coarse sand filter) unit, (b) iron and manganese mitigation unit, (c) ammonia mitigation unit, (d) regenerable adsorbent unit for As, B, I and F, and (e) UV-light disinfection unit.

As individual water treatment systems are deployed at larger scale (e.g. village, housing estates, institutions), the technology owner proposed a remote service and monitoring center to monitor and maintain the deployed systems. The service and monitoring center collect and store operational data of the water treatment systems in a server or cloud, and inform the operation personnel to perform regeneration and change of the filter media or absorbent materials, where necessary.

The technology provider is seeking industry partners to collaborate through technology licensing and is open to discuss other modes of collaboration.

  • Water treatment modules are installed into a uniform metal box to the Euro-pallet standard
  • The box is equipped with a communication device which can transmit the measured data paired with its GPS coordinates to the local service center to monitor the state of the water treatment system
