Seeking AI Solutions for the Shipping & Logistics Industry : Ocean of Opportunities

Background / Description

Ocean of Opportunities is an annual shipping and logistics innovation challenge. It returns this year with a specialised AI Track.

We're looking to discover applications that use Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to solve real problems in the shipping and logistics industry. If your startup has a powerful AI or data-enabled solution, we want you to participate!

This is your chance to create a new use case for your solution, expand your capabilities, and win a chance to conduct a trial with our corporate partners, Hapag-Lloyd, "K" LINE Group, ONE (Ocean Network Express), and Yusen Logistics.

Selected startups will get a chance to test their solutions in real testbeds and operational sites, work on a Proof-of-Concept directly with corporate partners, and be mentored by industry experts.

Technical Specifications

We're looking for AI and / or data analytics capabilities within startup solutions. Please make sure that your solution adequately addresses the challenge statements under the AI Track.

For now, the onus is not on specific technical requirements. We will pick up the conversation about technical specifications with shortlisted startups after submissions have closed.

Problem Statements

  1. Schedule reliability prediction using publicly available data - How can we make use of publicly available data to improve predictions in arrival times of liners?
  2. Dynamic pricing based on all determinant factors - With short historical data and non-digital determinant factors, can we still adopt dynamic pricing?
  3. Identification of high risk vessels based on open source intelligence - How can we gather enough information from open sourced intelligence to have a good oversight on the conditions of charter vessels?
