The technology seeker is a Singapore company with deep experience in the marine and offshore industry. They have access to a rich supply of agricultural waste and have developed products from these by-products. The agricultural waste is widely available in the equatorial region and has good water retention capacity. The company had also successfully experimented this waste material on oil absoprtion. The material is 100% natural, eco-friendly and bio-degradable.

Emergency oil or industrial spills damage our natural environment. Companies in marine and offshore industry are fined heavily for these damages and are looking for eco-friendly and cost-effective ways to manage the situation.

The company is seeking technology providers or collaborators to provide capabilities in producing higher value products by utilising agricultural waste. The main end-users will be companies in the oil and gas, as well as marine industry. The ideal timeframe for collaborations or commercialisations should be within 6 to 9 months to have a working prototype.

Technical Specifications

The preferred technology partners should:

  • Provide capabilities to help test different forms of agricultural waste products produced by the company, to see how the products fare against sawdust, chemicals and other oil spill dispersant products
  • Provide technologies to integrate this agricultural waste product as an oil absorbent for oil/industrial spills (e.g for home use and as containment boom for oil spill)
  • Provide technologies to integrate agricultural waste to replace rock wool for use in indoor urban farming
  • Provide technologies to use agricultural waste for sustainable packaging, building materials and furniture
  • Provide technologies to product activated carbon from these forms of agricultural waste
  • Preferred technologies should be at least TRL 5 (validated in relevant environment or laboratory)
