The inaugural Singapore Energy Grand Challenge (Industry and Research Community) seeks to develop innovative solutions that can contribute towards the aim of “Improving energy efficiency by 50% from 2020 levels by 2030 to enhance competitiveness of Singapore businesses”. In the spirit of co-creating innovative ideas, applicants are encouraged to collaborate with industry and research community and put up joint proposals.

The proposals may include, but not be limited to, the following areas: (i) development of energy-efficient technologies; (ii) optimisation of system design; and (iii) development of innovative digitalisation initiatives. Interested parties may propose other focus areas that meet the challenge’s objectives.
Each project will be required to develop a protype within 12-18 months from its commencement. A project mid-term review would be conducted, and continued funding of the project would be subject to satisfactory progress made in the project, including the prototype.
