Diabetic Retinopathy Detector

Technology Overview

Diabetic retinopathy, also known as diabetic eye disease, is a medical condition in which damage occurs to the retina due to diabetes mellitus. It is a leading cause of blindness.

Diabetic retinopathy affects up to 80 percent of those who have had diabetes for 20 years or more. At least 90% of new cases could be reduced with proper treatment and monitoring of the eyes.

The longer a person has diabetes, the higher his or her chances of developing diabetic retinopathy. Each year in the United States, diabetic retinopathy accounts for 12% of all new cases of blindness. It is also the leading cause of blindness in people aged 20 to 64.

Technology Features & Specifications

We have found a unique way to detect diabetic indicators through retinopathy. Our Artificial Intelligence was modelled from 35,000 images, reaching a 95% accuracy in detecting the diabetic indicators of a patient. This unique model could be deployed immediately in the Healthcare industry, providing a non-invasive detection procedure.

The intention is to host the model in an auto kiosk.

Potential Applications

This technology could be implemented in auto kiosk for diabetic detection in:

  • Healthcare labs
  • Hospitals
  • Clinics and,
  • Nation-wide public place

Market Trends and Opportunities

Autonomous kiosk can be implemented for public to do the scanning for a fraction of cost without any invasive procedure. As this is an automated system, no physical manpower is required.

The Technology Owner is looking for partners to manufacture the auto-scanning kiosk, and opportunities for commercial deployment.

Customer Benefits

Technology is:

  • Non-invasive
  • Inexpensive
  • Simple to use
  • Able to implement in an auto kiosk
  • Able to facilitate quick and easy detection
