Technology Overview

A thermoplastic material based on technical casein obtained from excess of milk protein production is presented here. This technology has the same properties as plastic and can be used in all conventional plastic processes. The thermoplastic material is 100% bio-based and is certified “OK compost HOME” and “OK biodegradable WATER” by TÜV. The technology presents a cleaner alternative to oil-based plastics and can help clients enter new markets while minimising the negative effects of plastic waste.

To date, the material is being developed into innovative packaging solutions for solid and liquid detergent applications. The technology is also currently being developed for areas such as cosmetics and food packaging.

Other potential uses for the technology may include single-use/dose packaging, film for embroidery.
