A thermoplastic material based on technical casein obtained from excess of milk protein production is presented here. This technology has the same properties as plastic and can be used in all conventional plastic processes. The thermoplastic material is 100% bio-based and is certified “OK compost HOME” and “OK biodegradable WATER” by TÜV. The technology presents a cleaner alternative to oil-based plastics and can help clients enter new markets while minimising the negative effects of plastic waste.
The material presented has the following features and specifications that makes it suitable for diverse applications:
The thermoplastic material can be produced as pellets which can be used in all conventional plastic processes.
To date, the material is being developed into innovative packaging solutions for solid and liquid detergent applications. The technology is also currently being developed for areas such as cosmetics and food packaging.
Other potential uses for the technology may include single-use/dose packaging, film for embroidery.
The technology provider is able to provide customised formulation and solutions to suit the various applications of potential adopters.
The developed bio-based thermoplastic presents to clients a biodegradable and compostable alternative to oil-based plastics. This minimizes the negative impacts to the environment from plastic waste. The features and functions of the material provides a high degree of innovation that allows potential adopters to enter new markets
